How to change the next five years of your life in five minutes

Stop. Imagine what you want your life to be like in five years. Imagine your ideal work, home and life situation in February 2019. Dream. Did you do it? Don’t read any more until you have.Got it? Ok.

Here’s a key question: How clear is your dream?

That is, how much detail can you give me? If you took five whole minutes to envision and dream your next five years of life, could you dream with detail?

Detail is crucial. Detail is the difference between your dreams and disappointment. You must dream detailed dreams.

I’m not saying that work isn’t important. If you have big dreams, you will need to work your tail off! But if you don’t have clarity on what you want or why, you’re likely going to come up empty-handed.

Here’s some leaders who teach this:

King Solomon, the famously rich, powerful and wise king of the ancient world, said “People perish for a lack of vision.”

Karen Ford, who went from school teacher to national sales director of Mary Kay cosmetics in just over ten years, commented,”People will never attain what they cannot see themselves doing.”

Seth Godin, marketing thought leader, top viewed TED talker, and bestselling author, says, “If you don’t know what you’re after, it’s unlikely you’re going to find it.”

Michael Hyatt, a brilliant writer, speaker, podcaster and life planning expert, says that vision is the key to productivity! That is, envisioning and dreaming in detail is key!

In a podcast episode on vision, he states: “You need a vision so big that it is compelling! If it is not compelling to you, you’re not going to have the motivation to stay the course.. and you’re not going to be productive.”

This is serious.

Five minutes of clarity can save you five years of missing out on what could be.

Are you focusing on working harder or dreaming clearer?
Dream with clarity. Then work.

QUESTION: What are you dreaming of? Comment at the bottom of the page. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. I agree that we should be as clear as possible while dreaming. If we do not know where we want to go we would difinately fail in finding the right path. The path always lead us to future. Its like getting the wrong Mashrotka if we say I just want to go and choose a station, in that, I can be satisfied.
